Demonolatry 1929
Published in Paperback by Kessinger Publishing Company (January, 2003)
Authors: Nicholas Remy and Montague Summers
Average review score:

An Important 16th Century Work on Demonology
This is the Montague Summers' edition of Nicholas Remy's infamous work "Daemonolatreiae libri tres", first published in France in 1595 and is generally considered one of the most important early works on demons and witches.

Remy was a judge for the Duchy of Lorraine and tried many hundreds of witchcraft cases, sending as many as 800 of the accused to a slow and terrible death at the stake. As a result of his vast "experience", this present work was considered one of the most influenctial of the many works on witchcraft and demonology that came about as a result of the great witchcraze of the 16th and 17th centuries. It definately influenced the work of several later demonologists such as Francesco Maria Guazzo and Martin Del Rio. Remy's work described a number of witchcraft cases and emphasised the truth of the diabolic pact supposedly made between a witch and the Devil himself and the horrible acts claimed to take place at the witches Sabbat. It also highlighted the fact that many witches were forced into the Devil's service either through trickery or violence, which was a change from several earlier works which claimed that witches made a willing choice to do evil. This in no way meant that Remy urged mercy for those who chose the dark path. Quite the opposite was true in fact. Remy draws on many ancient and contemporary sources for his arguments and stressed that the evil power of witches and other adherents to the Devil must be thoroughly rooted out of society by rope and flame.

Remy is generally considered one of the more virulent demonologists, in line with other anti-witch writers like Jean Bodin or Heinrich Kramer. His work was influential until the end of the 17th century, when a belief in witches and demons was on a steep decline, and this book was frequently cited and reprinted. Montague Summers, the eccentric early 20th century occult historian, lauds praise on Remy for his determination to root out witchery by any means possible, even if that meant the torture and death of innocents. While repugnant to our modern morality, this work is important to an understanding of the witchcraze of the early modern period.

Excellent historical reference.
Although from a Christian POV, this book delves into historic thoughts on witchcraft, satanism, demon worship, et al and outlines some alleged practices. While some of its accounts do resemble the demonolatry rituals of the middle ages, most of the book resembles something akin to the embellished hysteria outlined in the Compendium Maleficarum and The Malleus Maleficarum. There were only 1,275 copies of this book printed. They are hand numbered. Regardless, a valuable and rare title worth the price and wait.

Dilly's Summer Camp Diary
Published in Digital by iPicturebooks ()
Author: Cynthia Copeland Lewis
Average review score:

Dilly Is Everygirl
This book is causing me a problem right now because my 7-year-old girl refuses to let me take it back to the library. I'm definitely going to have to buy it! We had read the previous Dilly book and liked it too, but this one really struck a chord with my daughter. She insisted that I read it and I found myself not wanting it to end; I was so caught up in her trevails at camp, and it brought up similar memories for me of when I had had a lengthy camp experience that didn't go well at first.

Dilly sets off to camp with her best friend Meredith, assured she's going to have the time of her life. She comforts the already homesick Meredith, yet inwardly congratulates herself on her own independent and adventurous spirit. On arriving at camp, everything starts to go wrong; Dilly is literally roped off from the others during swimming because she fails to pass a floating test; every meal contains cheese, which she hates; everyone else gets tons of letters from home while she goes day after day with none; and she is assigned an exuberant but tiny horse that only makes her feel more self-conscious and geeky. To add insult to injury, Meredith blossoms, enchanting the other girls with her long braids and having no problem adjusting to the many other personalities in their cabin. One scene in particular brought a lump to my throat when Meredith loyally agrees to sit by Dilly on the bus but can't help playing boisterously with another nearby girl while Dilly sits dejectedly beside her.

Dilly is a great character; not the most popular or athletic girl in the bunch, she is forced to confront her own vulnerabilities and yet still comes out a winner when she learns to rely on her strengths and be herself.

Ms. Lewis: Please keep writing more Dilly books! We're waiting eagerly!

Amazingly Good!!!
Dilly's Summer Camp Diary is a great book! One of the main focal points of this book that I think draws readers' attention is the illustrations. They persuaded me to keep reading, even though I didn't want to put the book down anyway!

This book is set in the year 2040. A high-tech criminal mastermind turned terrorist decidedes to play god by creating his own breed of super snake with DNA alteration. The snake has the traits of a cobra, a brown tree snake, and it sucks blood. This enables it to hunt any size of prey it wants. One of my childhood favorites
My mother used to read the stories out of this book to our family when I was a child. They are stories that have stayed with me all these years. Now that I am starting my own family, I am looking forward to sharing these wonderful stories with my own children to teach them God's blessings.

A great way to teach children about the fruits of the Spirit
In an imaginative way, the author of this book teaches children about the Fruits of the Spirit and how they can apply these principles to their lives. A little boy on vacation with his grandparents hears wonderful stories about Longsuffering Lemons, a Peaceable strawberry, the Core of Meekness, the Seeds of Faith, the Cantelope that needed Temperance, Pineapple Goodness, a Special Banana, Three Orange Gifts of Love, and Peaches and Joy. A must have for parents who want to cultivate these traits in their children.

Game For Anything

Playing for high stakes! -- Very highly recommended
Tracker McBride brings out a profound response in Sophie Wainwright--something base and primitive. After a year of fantasy, maybe an affair will get him out of her system. Armed with a coin with two heads and other tricks to throw the game to her favor, Sophie lures the very willing Tracker into her bed. Sophie has nicknamed him "The Shadow" for his ability to slip away undetected.

Two years ago Sophie's brother hired Tracker to head up security for Wainwright Enterprises. Sophie was humiliated and infuriated that Tracker proved her love interests to be nothing more than fortune hunters. Tracker decided that he did not deserve a princess like Sophie and over the last year has maintained his distance even while providing her protection. Unfortunately, someone is playing a deadly game and using Sophie as a pawn, and Tracker finds himself trapped between duty and desire.

Author Cara Summers pens a winner with GAME FOR ANYTHING. Sophie is a strong, independent woman willing to take risks for what she wants. Tracker is an Alpha male with the air of mystery and danger that makes him divinely sexy. His weakness for games of chance gives Sophie the edge when she cheats to get what they both want. Indeed, Sophie's toys get amazing results, adding a nicely naughty flair to this marvelously fun read. Furthermore, secondary characters sparkle, including Sophie's surprising astute cat and favorite characters from previous adventures. A wonderfully entertaining read, GAME FOR ANYTHING comes very highly recommended.

Good plot and hot sex!!!
I really enjoyed this book, it had a good plot and the sex scenes were very enjoyable without going overboard. Sophie and Tracker were made for each other, I even enjoyed Sophie's cat, Chess. Overall, this book was a good read, and a keeper in my opinion.

Grandmom's Summer Reading Club
It is an idea who's time has come. Grandparents can add so much to the lives of their grandchildren and for that matter, children everywhere.

Bill Duncan, Editor, Senior Times, Roseburg, Oregon

Grandmom's Summer Reading Club
Anyone can give this reading club idea a try and Elizabeth urges that more than grandmothers do so. Maybe granddad wants to make the book link. Maybe an aunt or uncle could invite nieces and nephews. If you mentor a child during the school year, this could be a summer connection. One of Elizabeth's friends opened the book club to her sister's grandchildren who had recently lost their own grandmother. The options are endless.

Absolutely Excellent!
This is an excellent book for anyone who wishes to develop his or her deductive reasoning and problem solving skills. It does not only provide you with solutions, but shows you step by step how to get there.Up until quite recently I thought that the ability to reason logically is inborn, but after doing a little research I realized that it is a skill that can be developed with the aid of good quality books such as The Great Book of Mind Teasers & Mind Puzzlers. It is definitely a book that can make you feel that your reasoning abilities can be developed beyond the ones that you currently have.

ONE OF THE BEST
I can't believe I'm the first person to review this book after all these years. This book is one of the true classics in puzzle history. If you are a true lover of logic and thinking skills, then this is a must. I have spent the better part of 40 years collecting the best puzzles and this heads the list. Maybe the reason it has never been reviewed is that it is a demanding array of puzzles...not for the faint of heart.Thank you, Mr. Summers, for hours of pleasure.
